That first weekend, I went back to Lubbock. That makes 2 weekends in a row for me. This time I went solo and flew down. I had a flight credit from last summer when I couldn't take my returning flight back to Dallas due to storms. It was getting close to expiration, so I used it to go back home and attend my great uncle's 80th birthday party. It was like a mini family reunion. I got to see cousins who I've been talking to via text and social media, but haven't seen in years. Can you believe we didn't get one stinkin' picture of us!? Of course, this means that I got to see Jude 2 weekends in a row. I definitely got some pics of that action.
Blurry and headed to the birthday party!
Snap Chat fun!
Just some cutenes
And a little more
And more...
And one more....for now!
Aunt Nuh Nuh and Aunt Lee Lee taking a stroll on the playground with our lil' man!
This boy loves books and the "no pants life" which is why he and I get along so well: so many things in common
I'm that aunt: the one that leaves unwanted red lipstick kisses on your cheek
relaxing with paw paw on a Sunday afternoon....with that lipstick kiss still on his face. He even left it on his face while dropping me off at the airport that afternoon. He was actually kinda sad when I had to say bye. Now I try to Face Time a couple of times a week.
Next up in March is what every teacher looks forward to: Spring Break! I had hoped to have a relaxing week catching up on my TV shows since I was out for two weekends in a row (which is usually when I get to watch my shows). I was kept pretty busy. Monday was the long awaited Dallas Day for "The Thread"! We took the TRE to Dallas with 2 toddlers in tow and ate our way through Dallas, stopping at Klyde Warren Park and Uptown along the way. Here are some of our adventures:
It was a really warm day for mid-March. But we still enjoyed our time here at the beautiful Klyde Warren park.
First up: Meso Maya for some NOLA style sharing of good Mexican food (didn't get a pic of the other goodness when it came out)
But I got that cake tho' #priorities #whyicantloseweight
We hit up Hopdoddy's for some garlic Parmesan truffle fries with aioli sauce....this was so good I brought Mr. B back that weekend and added burgers to that list!
Then we hit up Olivella's for expensive pizza....but it was good.

Sip n' Stir coffee because during Spring Break it's perfectly acceptable to drink coffee mid afternoon
This day ended up with us talking so much that we missed the train we planned on taking so I could get back in time to make my workout. We ended up making a run for it, but still missed it because there's only so much running I can do before my body is like "nope, girl! This ain't happening. There's too much of you to carry around to keep moving at this speed. You need to breathe."
Finally was time for a much needed hair appointment to get rid of my roots and shag. Of course, more afternoon coffee
Mr. B had a rare weekend off, so we hit up Dallas so he could enjoy the fun times and great food. However, Saturday meant super crowded, and Mr. B doesn't do crowds well.
A crowded Klyde Warren Saturday. So excited it's time for my summer fedora!
Love this pic of us Sunday evening before church!
A rare Sunday morning where we can go to church together. Then we got to have lunch with his parents and his grandma before heading to Uncle Julio's to celebrate his dad's birthday with his sister and her family. Great way to end Spring Break!
We made a huge adult purchase for our home: New hardwood floors for the living room, our bedroom, and master closet. It was a long time coming. Our old floors in the living room looked terrible. The carpet in our room was disgusting. It was just time to take that step as a home owner. Our house looked like we were moving. They tried to tell us it was a 2 day job. I told them it wasn't possible because no one would be here the next day since we both worked, and I was told it would be a 1 day job. It was finished around 8:30 that night. The crew was great and friendly.
I was in a state of shock when I got home from work....
It was going to be a long night
But the finished product was so pretty!
On the 25th, I got to go see my favorite podcasters from "The Popcast with Knox and Jamie" live in Grapevine! I went with my "thread sister" and fellow lover of the Popcast, Leigh Anne! We enjoyed the show and some yummy pizza for dinner.
Filters are life!
Since we got our tax refund, I went ahead and booked our vacations for this summer. Instead of taking one big vacation out of the country, we decided on 2 medium vacations here in the states and visiting 2 different states. We just couldn't get in the Caribbean mood, so we opted for something new and different. In June, we are going to San Francisco. Neither one of us has been. I've always wanted to go because it just looked so pretty. Plus, there's a beach 4 blocks away from our Air BNB, so we can still beach it if we want. Then in July for our anniversary trip, we are going to NOLA! I went about 4 years ago on a work trip with my "thread sisters". Mr. B has never been. So we will be eating our way through NOLA while walking all over the square and sweating it out like champs in that muggy July swamp heat.
Here's to hoping I won't be so neglectful in these next couple of months while school is still in session......
